The candidate most recently served in a variety of capacities with Education Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: EDR) from 2010 to 2018, culminating with being Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Directors. He was also the Founder and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCR Development, LLC, a private hotel construction, ownership and management company from 2006 to 2015. The candidate has also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Great Wolf Resorts, Inc., a public indoor water park resort company; as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Golden Gate National Senior Care; and as President and Chief Operating Officer and as a Director of RFS Hotel Investors, Inc., a NYSE-listed hotel REIT. Earlier in his career, the candidate served on the Board of Directors of Innkeepers USA Trust (formerly NYSE: INN), and as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of FelCor Lodging Trust, Inc. (formerly NYSE: FCH). He formerly sat on the Board of Directors of Cousins Properties Inc. (formely NYSE: CUZ).

EdR (NYSE: EDR), a self-administered real estate investment trust, developed, bought, owned, and operated residential communities for university students. It owns roughly 50 communities in more than 20 US states, consisting of almost 28,000 beds in nearly 10,500 units. Through its Allen & O’Hara Education Services subsidiary, the REIT manages another 20-plus student housing properties owned by others. EdR communities offer private rooms as well as amenities such as Internet access, fitness centers, game rooms, dining facilities, swimming pools and study rooms. It was announced in June 2018 that EdR is to be acquired by a newly-formed, perpetual-life fund, Greystar Student Housing Growth and Income Fund, LP (“GEdR”), an affiliate of Greystar Real Estate Partners, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $4.6 billion, including debt to be assumed or refinanced. The acquisition was completed at the end of 2018. Market Cap: $2.6 billion.
