President & Chief Executive Officer, American Campus Communities, Inc.

The candidate has been President and Chief Executive Officer of American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC) since October of 2003 and has served on the company’s Board of Directors since August of 2004. He is a Co-Founder of the company and participated in the founding of the student housing business of the company’s predecessor entities. The candidate served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the company’s predecessor entities from 1995 to 2003, where he directed all aspects of the company’s predecessor entities’ business segments including business development, development and construction management, acquisitions and management services. He served as the company’s Vice President of Development from the inception of the company’s predecessor entities in 1993 until July of 1995. The candidate served as the Director of Operations for Century Development’s student housing division from 1991 to 1993. From 1988 to 1991, he served as the Director of Marketing responsible for business development and marketing for the student housing division of Cardinal Industries. The candidate began his career in student housing with Allen & O’Hara where he held the positions of Resident Assistant, Resident Manager and Area Marketing Coordinator from 1984 to 1988. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from West Virginia University.

American Campus Communities, Inc. (NYSE:ACC) owns and operates student housing properties located at or near colleges and universities in more than 25 states. The company leases the ground for on-campus properties from the schools, which in turn receive half of the net cash flow from these properties. American Campus Communities also works with schools to develop new properties and renovate existing housing, and provides third-party leasing and management services for other student housing owners. In all, the REIT manages about 201 properties (with some 128,700 beds) at more than 85 schools in the US and Canada. Market Cap: $5.6 billion.
