The candidate is the President, Chief Executive Officer, and a Director of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc. (NYSE: SKT). He and his father Stanley K. Tanger, who originally founded the firm in 1981, successfully completed an Initial Public Offering of the first factory outlet real estate investment trust listed on the New York Stock Exchange on May 28, 1993. Before the creation of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc., the candidate worked for Tanger-Creighton, Inc. in 1970, immediately after completing college. Over the next 10 years he had the unique opportunity to work with both his father and grandfather. During his tenure at Tanger-Creighton, he rose to the position of Executive Vice President and Director. The candidate also served on the Board of Directors of National Student Marketing, Inc. from 1972 to 1980. After the sale of Tanger-Creighton in 1980, he founded SB Tanger & Company, an investment banking firm specializing in real estate syndication and venture capital. In 1985, the candidate and Stanley Tanger joined forces once again, with the candidate as Tanger Factory Outlet’s fourth employee. The candidate is a former Trustee of the International Council of Shopping Centers; an Independent Director of The Fresh Market, member of the Real Estate Roundtable and an Independent Director and Member of the Executive Committee of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts. The candidate is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
