The candidate became one of Macerich Company’s (NYSE: MAC) Senior Executive Vice Presidents and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in February 2016. He served in that role until April 2018. As Chief Operating Officer the candidate was responsible for the management, development, leasing, asset management and marketing activities at the company. Prior to being Chief Operating Officer, the candidate served as Macerich’s Executive Vice President of Leasing from April 2012 through February 2016, directing retail leasing on its portfolio of over 50 regional malls. Before joining Macerich, the candidate formed and was the managing member of Davis Street Land Company, a privately held real estate company focused on the management, development and ownership of upscale shopping centers from 1998 until March 2012. The company developed and owned retail centers in California, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee. At the end of 2011 the candidate directed the disposition of the company’s assets in two separate transactions totaling over $700 million via sales to The Taubman Company and General Growth Properties (NYSE: GGP). Prior to forming Davis Street Land Company he was the Chief Executive Officer of Heitman Retail Properties, where he supervised overall operations and growth of its retail holdings from 1990 to 1998. The candidate began his career at Heitman Financial in 1983 as an Analyst working on property acquisitions. The candidate graduated from the University of Colorado and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Chatham Lodging Trust (NYSE: CLDT), a publicly traded REIT which invests in upscale extended stay hotels and premium branded select service hotels. In addition, he is a Trustee for the International Council of Shopping Centers. He previously served on the Board of First Bank of Highland Park, a community bank in the Chicago area and on the Board of Prime Retail one of the country’s largest outlet center companies.
